I’ve decided to move true articles to a dedicated articles section of the webpage. I’ve noticed that a lot of people use a blog for full-fledged articles, and I don’t want to make that mistake.
Having a dedicated article section provides a benefit to readers in the following ways:
- It leaves out personal tangents for those who don’t want any
- It allows for greater organizational structure
- Articles won’t be dressed down as blogs
- I can update them continuously
The article landing page is williamlupinacci.com/articles. The articles are organized by topic. Each topic is prepended to the URL, for example, virtual-worlds is williamlupinacci.com/articles/virtual-worlds.
Each topic is its own landing page (for example, the aforementioned virtual worlds page). All articles belonging to a topic has its own internal wiki-like structure. But it is not a bliki (because it is not a blog), not is it truly a wiki (because there is only ever one author). By a wiki-like structure I mean there will be table of contents on most pages. And links within article bodies will always be internal links within the topic, unless explicitly stated.
So basically there will be a lot of interlinking, making browsing fun. And that is the main point of it all, fun.
There are hundreds of articles I have written that are either on some storage device somewhere, on archival sites or on sites no one reads anymore. Some of that stuff decent or at least informative. So that stuff will be moved here.
There will be some short, placeholder articles (“stubs”), but as each is “living”, any article is subject to be expanded or changed at any time. If any are changed it will reflect in the update date of the article.
Other site updates
The site is switching to a light theme, bear with me while I do this :)
